Why academic accounts can't connect directly
University IT admins (e.g. UW) block third-party apps from accessing your calendar via OAuth. The workaround is to publish your calendar as a public ICS link — no sign-in required.
Outlook / Office 365
Go to outlook.office.com → Settings (gear) → View all Outlook settings
Calendar → Shared calendars → Publish a calendar
Select your calendar, set permissions to "Can view when I'm busy" (recommended)
Click Publish, then copy the ICS link
Google Calendar
Go to calendar.google.com → Settings (gear) → Settings
Click your calendar on the left → Integrate calendar
Copy the Secret address in iCal format
Privacy note: We recommend "availability only" so event titles stay private. But even if you share full details, this app only reads start/end times — event names, descriptions, attendees, and locations are never stored or shown.
